This year, I have been faced with many challenges, but I have also found a new passion. I began work at a different company for my last two co-ops, and I have found it to be both fulfilling and inspiring. I, for once, believe I know what I want to do with my degree. I never knew, but I can confidently say that now I believe I want to pursue a career at an engineering firm. I enjoy the problem solving and the challenges that I must face, as well as the work environment involved. I find that I can use a number of my strengths at this job, and I hope to improve myself as I continue working. It is very rewarding to finally have direction in my life, and I look forward to exploring it further.
My goals for the upcoming year have one theme: to get the most out of my last year in college. The first goal has to do with my senior design project. I will be working on the UC Formula 1 team, helping to design and build a car. My goals for the project are to not only do what is needed, but to go above and beyond and to be truly committed to the outcome of the team. I hope that I learn more about teamwork, and too be able to hone my social skills to become the best team player I can be. My second goal is to remain involved with my co-op company. I hope to work part time throughout the upcoming fall semester, and to study with co-workers to take the FE exam, which is the first step to becoming a Professional Engineer. This path will help me with my realization of wanting to work at an engineering firm, and if I can show dedication to that path, I can thrive in it once I graduate. My final goal is to strengthen the relationships I already have, and to create new ones, before I graduate. I want to make as many memories as possible before I leave, because I truly love this University. So, to conclude, my goal is to learn more, meet more people, and to work more. All of this will lead to my main goal, which is to graduate feeling that I got the most out of my time here at UC, and to leave without wondering what might have been if I had only applied myself more. I really hope to accomplish this goal before graduation, but even if I don’t, I will graduate knowing that the University of Cincinnati will always feel like home.
